When Stern show staffer John Melendez left the show, Christy and Governale entered the "Get John's Job" contest. During his week's audition, Sal and Richard produced various song parodies and gamesalong with several other disfunctionally funny candiates. When the winner was announced on July 1, Governale became runner up to Richard Christy, with 24% to Christy's 30%. Despite finishing second, his performance during the contest earned him a job with the show anyway. Governale began working on the show on September 14, where Governale called WXRK General Manager Tom Chiusano a "douche bag". Despite the initial dislike Governale felt for Christy, the two of them began working together as a team writing song parodies, prank calls and comedy bits. They soon became such good friends that they often resort to homoerotic acts simply to amuse Howard and his listeners, either on the road during comedy shows or on the air.
Richard Christy
Thomas Richard Christy (born April 1, 1974) is an American musician, comedian, actor, and radio personality who has worked for The Howard Stern Show after winning the show's "Get John's Job" contest on July 1, 2004. He is known on the show for his prank calls, song parodies, "retard strength" and "gay-themed" stunts that he has done with Stern Show staffer Sal "The Stockbroker" Governale. Christy has played in many bands, including Iced Earth, Burning Inside, Death and Control Denied. Christy joined Death after meeting Chuck Schuldiner in a bookstore while the band was looking for a new drummer after the departure of Gene Hoglan. Christy recorded three albums with Death (The Sound of Perseverance released in 1998, Live in L.A. (Death & Raw), 2001, and Live in Eindhoven, also 2001) and one album with Control Denied, The Fragile Art of Existence released in 1999. Richard most recently played drums for Caninus.
Sal Governale
Salvatore Governale ("Sal the Stockbroker") is an American radio personality, comedian, and former stockbroker who joined The Howard Stern Show as an associate producer in September 2004, after being a runner up on the show's "Get John's Job" contest. Governale began making his name on the Howard Stern Show in early 1996 by harassing show producer Gary Dell'Abate with prank calls. Governale popularized the nickname "horse tooth jackass", a reference to Dell'Abate's notoriously enormous teeth. In the past, Governale has tried to capitalize on his notoriety by peddling "horse tooth jackass" merchandise, including t-shirts and CDs of his prank calls. Governale would continue to call into the show and produce song parodies until he entered the show's "Get John's Job" contest in 2004.
Sal & Richard Video
This video is not all that funny to people who do not know Sal and Richard but it delves into their perverted sense of humor very well. This is one of my favorites video pranks with these two because it shows how well they can play off each other with complete bullshit. My favorite part is when Richard tries to look around Sal to explain to this chick how Sal is gay and not to be trusted. When Richard said "You touched Jason" and makes these fighting grunts as he punched Sal in the ribs caused a doo doo piece roll down my leg.
